  Watchtower practice of shunning relatives -- when did it begin?

  JV I remember in the early 70's during the 15 min. break between public talk and the watchtower study the ones that smoked went behind the 7-11 store next to the KH for a smoke. In a congregation of about 100 at the time I would say 15 to 20 were smoking. Those were the days. Still Totally ADD

  5:17.. those related to us in the faith certainly merit honor and respect.

  this is especially true of the elders who are taking the lead.

  James Mixon I love your illustration of monkeys in the tree. All I could think of was when visiting the zoo every time we past the monkey cages they are always slinging crap and peeing. So I guess the monkeys on top of the tree are peeing and slinging crap on all the monkeys down below them. LOL. Still Totally ADD

  Im Writing An Ex-JW Self Help Book

  we all know waking up from the cult and trying to leave is a very scary and life changing experience.

  for many it's traumatic and few find the transition easy.

  we have to deal with families cutting us off entirely or keeping us at arms length at best, lies being told about us by the organization, ex members gossiping about us and finding ourselves in a world very different from what we're prepared for.. for this reason, i've decided to start writing a self-help book informing jws of what to expect when they leave the org.

  P.E. what a great idea you have. I wish you great success on your project. My wife and I since leaving the Borg do teaching classes on backyard wild herbs and gardening. I mention this because we found the KISS method is the best teaching tool to help people understand the subject material. Can't wait to see what you bring out in your future book.   All the WT. Cult is doing is throwing a bone to the elders to build them up a little so they can keep doing the bidding of the Borg. In my early years as a elder when they mention this verse it had a effect on me to keep going on and do your job. At the end before I stepped down I could see how they would used this verse as a motivational tool so elders would keep being loyal to the GB.. Still Totally ADD

  Several years ago a O.C. told me in confidence that the GB believes half of the friends will die at Armageddon because they were half hearted. Because of this thinking he said the GB can't trust the friends to do the right thing so we shouldn't.

  The GB has never in my life time stuck their neck out for anything. They have always had the flock do all the dirty work. Still Totally ADD

  i heard a sly and the family stone song a little while ago and out of curiosity, looked up larry graham....the innovator of the slappin and plunkin bass.

  he became a jw about 1975 and was the influence for prince becoming a jw.

  on his official web page is the list of his tour dates this year.

  I remember years ago Benson had a Christmas album out. I couldn't believe it! When I asked about it I was told it was in his business contract to do this. On the other hand being in construction I could not work on churches. Go figure!!! Still Totally ADD

  Were These People “Demonized” or Simply Mentally Ill?

  it seems that every congregation had a problem with people being affected by the demons.

  looking back i have to wonder was it that more people were emotionally or mentally unbalanced?

  or they simply off their medications or were they in need of meds?.

  My experience in dealing with friends in the Borg for 25 years as a elder was meatal illness, dementia and poor health all feel they was attack by demons or demons was hiding personal items in the house or demons are shaking furniture. All can be explain with reason not blaming demons. Of course as a elder I wasted many hours looking for fictional creatures. Still Totally ADD

  Solicitors Appontment Tomorrow - Advice Appreciated

  im seeing my solicitor tomorrow to see about getting an order in place making sure any contact my daughter has with my jw family goes through me and not my ex-wife.. explained the situation briefly to the lawyer, she was asking more and more about why should i be concerned if a jw had access to my child.. i mentioned the blood issue, the shunning, the inappropriate pictures of armageddon in books/mags etc.

  do you think i should bring in watchtower literature to show them what i mean?

  I agree with Sail Away. Reason I say that is when my wife gave her talk on on the JW cult she got better response from the audience when she showed them pictures and quotes from WT literature. That got their attention. Words are great but concrete visual evidence is better. Still Totally ADD
